BOSTON (AP) - Henrik Sedin broke a tie with the third of Vancouver's four power-play goals and the Canucks beat the defending champion Boston Bruins 4-3 on Saturday in the first game between the teams since the Stanley Cup finals.
The Bruins won their first title in 39 years by taking the last two games of the seven-game series.
Ryan Kesler lifted the Canucks, who have the NHL's best power play, to a 1-0 lead 5:41 into the first period, but Brad Marchand and Rich Peverley responded for Boston. Alexander Burrows tied it at 15:21 of the second period and Sedin put the Canucks ahead at 19:47.
Vancouver's Cody Hodgson and Boston's David Krejci scored in the first two minutes of the third period.
FLYERS 3, SENATORS 2
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Danny Briere had three goals and scored at 4:54 of overtime to send Philadelphia over Ottawa.
The victory was the second straight for the Flyers, and it snapped Ottawa's four-game winning streak.
The teams traded goals in the third period. Briere scored his second of the game and his 12th goal of the season, which deflected off Ottawa defender Chris Phillips' stick, tying the game at 2-2.
About 3 minutes earlier, Ottawa's Bobby Butler had given the Senators a short-lived 2-1 lead, poking in a rebound.
Ottawa tied the game on a tap-in by Milan Michalek 11:05 into the second period.
STARS 4, OILERS 1
DALLAS (AP) - Jamie Benn scored twice, including the tiebreaker in the third period, rookie Richard Bachman made 25 saves and Dallas beat Edmonton.
With the teams tied at 1, Benn went hard to the net, collected the rebound of Adam Burish's shot, and lifted the puck over sprawling Edmonton goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin at 7:03 of the final period. It was Benn's 13th of the season.
Jordan Eberle, Edmonton's leading scorer with 17 goals and 43 points, sustained a knee injury in the opening period and did not return.
Mike Ribeiro also had two goals, giving him four in two games, and Loui Eriksson had three assists for Dallas.
BLUE JACKETS 1, KINGS 0
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Curtis Sanford made 31 saves for his sixth career shutout, defenseman Grant Clitsome scored and Columbus beat Los Angeles.
The Kings' Jonathan Quick stopped 17 shots.
MAPLE LEAFS 4, RED WINGS 3
TORONTO (AP) - Joffrey Lupul scored at 7:10 of the third period to lift Toronto after the Maple Leafs gave up a three-goal lead.
With the game looking to have slipped out of control, Lupul grabbed a rare turnover from Henrik Zetterberg behind the net and lifted a shot over Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard.
It gaves the Leafs their third straight victory during a key homestand and kept them climbing up the Eastern Conference standings.
Phil Kessel scored on a penalty shot, and Dion Phaneuf and David Steckel added goals for Toronto. Jonas Gustavsson made 37 saves to keep his run of starts going under Ron Wilson's win-and-you-stay-in system.
Todd Bertuzzi, Niklas Kronwall and Jiri Hudler scored for Detroit.
JETS 2, SABRES 1, OT
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Johnny Oduya scored 57 seconds into overtime to lift Winnipeg.
Oduya fired a wrist shot from the left circle, beating Buffalo goalie Jhonas Enroth over his left shoulder.
The Sabres' Ville Leino believed he scored the apparent go-ahead goal with 1:45 remaining, but play had been whistled dead prior to Leino jabbing the puck away from Winnipeg goalie Ondrej Pavelec and into the net.
Blake Wheeler also scored for the Jets and Pavelec finished with 31 saves.
Tyler Myers scored for Buffalo, and Enroth stopped 39 shots.
CANADIENS 3, LIGHTNING 1
MONTREAL (AP) - Mike Blunden and Max Pacioretty scored in the second period, Carey Price made 23 saves, and Montreal won its second straight.
Erik Cole scored his 17th goal of the season on the power play with 17 seconds remaining to give the Canadiens their third win in 10 games. Montreal also got consecutive victories for the first time since Dec. 10-13.
Vincent Lecavalier scored early in the first for Tampa Bay, which lost its third straight in Canada. The Lightning were outscored 14-5 in the losses at Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
Blunden scored his first NHL goal in 21 months to tie the score 5:44 into the second and Pacioretty got his 12th goal 93 seconds later.
DEVILS 3, PENGUINS 1
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ilya Kovalchuk and Adam Henrique each had a goal and an assist ae New Jersey handed Pittsburgh its fourth consecutive loss.
Dainius Zubrus also scored, Zach Parise had two assists and Martin Brodeur made 41 saves for the Devils, who beat the Penguins for the second time in eight days and moved past them in the Eastern Conference.
Pittsburgh has scored a total of five goals in losing its past four - all to Atlantic Division opponents. It's the Penguins' longest losing streak in more than two years.
Evgeni Malkin scored for Pittsburgh.
PREDATORS 5, HURRICANES 2
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Patric Hornqvist scored two power-play goals to lead Nashville to its fourth win in five games.
Shea Weber, Craig Smith and Ryan Ellis also scored for the Predators.
Jay Harrison scored twice for Carolina, which is 1-2-1 in its last four.
Hornqvist's second goal of the game and 11th of the season gave the Predators a 4-0 lead nearly 7 minutes into the third period.
Harrison got the Hurricanes on the board with his fourth of the season at 8:35.
BLUES 4, AVALANCHE 0
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Kevin Shattenkirk had a goal and an assist, Brian Elliott made 15 saves for his fifth shutout, and St. Louis ended Colorado's four-game winning streak.
Alex Pietrangelo had two assists for a career-best third straight multipoint game and the Blues won their NHL-high 17th game at home and moved ahead of the Red Wings for the Central Division lead.
Patrik Berglund, Jason Arnott and David Backes also scored for the Blues.
COYOTES 5, ISLANDERS 1
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Shane Doan scored at the buzzer for the first hat trick of his 16-year NHL career for Phoenix.
Doan, in his 1,161st game, fired a slap shot past goalie Evgeni Nabokov just before the buzzer sounded. The 35-year-old team captain had been, along with Scott Mellanby, the only players in league history with 300 goals but no hat tricks.
Doan scored early in the first and second periods to set the stage but missed several close tries before getting the goal at the last possible moment.
Taylor Pyatt and Oliver Ekman-Larsson also scored for Phoenix. Frans Nielsen scored the Islanders' lone goal.
