Duals providing a fresh look

Jays host talented field in today’s GFI Duals

When the Jefferson City wrestling team traveled to Louisiana last week for the Deep South Bayou Classic, it saw unfamiliar teams. But unfamiliarity bred success as the Jays finished second in the event.

They hope unfamiliarity will work to their advantage again today as they host the GFI Duals at Fleming Fieldhouse. Action kicks off at 11 a.m.

“The Louisiana trip got us away, we told the kids, ‘Look, there’s not anybody here from Missouri, you don’t have to worry about records, or seeding in the future, just go hard,’” Jefferson City coach Phil Cagle said.

While the Jays could see some of the wrestlers in today’s field down the line, it’s a fresh look at this point in the season as this is the first time the Jays will go up against any of these schools this season.
