Missouri receives more disaster recovery money

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency is providing $20 million to help rebuild a Joplin hospital that took a direct hit from a deadly May 22 tornado.

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt says the grant is one of several aimed at helping Missouri communities recover from last year's natural disasters.

St. John's Regional Medical Center is building a new hospital complex south of Interstate 44 to replace the medical campus that was destroyed by the tornado.

FEMA also provided $2 million to help complete repairs to the Joplin High School grounds and $1.3 to reimburse the Missouri National Guard for its disaster response.

The U.S. Department of Transportation also awarded more than $18 million to the Missouri Department of Transportation, in part to repair roads damaged by flooding.
