Missouri lawmakers must be encouraged to apply Christian principles to their work in the Capitol, a St. Louis lawyer told Wednesday morning's "Consent of the Governed" rally.

"When you speak to your elected officials, you must remember that you are not seeking your will, but the will of Jesus," David Linton told around 150 people attending the rally in the Capitol Rotunda.

Linton said the Missouri Constitution's preamble recognizes "the foundation of the (state) government ... is reverence for the "Supreme Ruler of the Universe,'" and he reminded the crowd the one-sentence preamble says the Constitution was established "for the better government of the state."
