GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A'dia Mathies scored 14 points, Bria Goss added 11 and No. 6 Kentucky beat cold-shooting Florida 59-56 on Sunday in the Southeastern Conference opener for both schools.

The Wildcats (12-2, 1-0) were coming off a rough stretch, losing two of their last three games.

Deana Allen had 14 points and Ndidi Madu finished with 11 for Florida (10-4, 0-1), which shot 32.8 percent and committed 23 turnovers.

Azania Stewart made a free throw with 8:19 left to help Florida close to 42-41, but the Wildcats responded with an 11-4 surge.

NO. 7 TENNESSEE 73, AUBURN 52

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Meighan Simmons scored 20 points and Tennessee pulled away late in its opening Southeastern Conference game.

The Lady Vols (9-3, 1-0) closed the game on a 19-6 run and won for the 27th time in the last 30 meetings with the Tigers (8-6, 0-1).

Shekinna Stricklen added 17 points on 5-of-18 shooting for Tennessee, while Glory Johnson had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Camille Glymph led Auburn with 21 points, making 5 of 10 from 3-point range.

NO. 17 GEORGIA 67, ARKANSAS 57

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Center Jasmine Hassell had 19 points and Georgia made 10 3-pointers in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams.

The Lady Bulldogs (12-2, 1-0) got 15 points from Anne Marie Armstrong and 12 apiece from Meredith Mitchell and Khaalidah Miller.

Sarah Watkins had 15 points for Arkansas (11-2, 0-1) and C'eira Ricketts added 14.
