A shooting and stabbing kept Jefferson City Police busy on the first day of 2012.
According to police reports, the stabbing was reported around 4:57 a.m. when a 9-1-1 call was received about an assault with a knife and property destruction in the 900 block of East Cedar Way.
Upon officers arrival the investigation determined that two groups of individuals were involved in an altercation at Club Motivation, 2425 Industrial Drive.
The victim and her friends went home and were followed by the suspects.
Upon arrival on E. Cedar Way another fight ensued and a 29 year old female Jefferson City resident, Nikita Lovelace, was stabbed in the upper thigh.
The windows in her vehicle were also broken out.
Officers located the suspect vehicle and the victim was able to identify Kashay Davis, a 19 year old Jefferson City resident, as the one that had stabbed her and Atasha McCann, a 21 year old Jefferson City resident, as the one that broke the window in her vehicle.
Davis and McCann were arrested and transported to the Cole County Jail.
Charges for 2nd Degree Assault are being sought for Davis and Property Destruction charges are being sought on McCann
The shooting occurred around 5:17 a.m.
Jefferson City Police Officers and Cole County Sheriff's Deputies responded to Break Time at 810 Stadium Blvd. for a 9-1-1 call of several shots being fired.
Upon arrival officers discovered multiple shell casings on the lot and in the street in front of the business.
At about the same time another 9-1-1 call was received from Capital Region Hospital concerning two subjects with bullet wounds that had entered the emergency room.
The victim's vehicle was located outside the hospital, still running. The vehicle had multiple bullet holes in it.
Investigation at this time shows that multiple shots had been fired on or near the lot of Break Time and that there was probably more than one shooter involved.
Two Jefferson City residents, 20 year old Gregory Ruff and 19 year old Markus Davis, each had received gunshot injuries that were not life threatening.
Ruff was transferred to MU Hospital and Davis remained at Capitol Region Hospital for treatment. Both were treated and released.
The investigation into the shooting is continuing.
