Republicans outnumber Democrats for Mo. races

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - There appears to be a lot of interest among Republicans in running for office in Missouri.

After the first day of candidacy filing, the secretary of state's office reports that 242 Republicans have signed up to run for federal offices, statewide executive offices, the state Legislature or circuit judgeships. By comparison, 149 Democrats filed to run for those offices on Tuesday's start of candidacy filing.

There is plenty of time for more people to get into the races. Candidacy filing continues through March 27.
