Japan factory output rises 2 percent in January

TOKYO (AP) - Japan's factory production has risen for a second straight month, boosted by car and camera manufacturing.

The government says production rose 2 percent in January from the previous month. Government data also show that manufacturers expect output to grow 1.7 percent in February and March.

Industries that contributed to the increase in January include transportation equipment, information and communication electronics, and iron and steel.

Production at makers of digital cameras and car navigation systems rebounded after being disrupted by massive flooding in Thailand last year.
