Vehicle search leads to drug arrests in Cole Co.

On Friday at 4:15 p.m., a Cole County Sheriff's Department Deputy was in the 8000 block of U.S. 50 and attempted to stop a green Buick.
The vehicle tried to evade the deputy by turning off the roadway, but the deputy caught up to the vehicle in the 7300 block of Business 50.
Upon contact, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
After getting pmission to search, a one pound bag of marijuana was seized.
Both subjects in the vehicle were arrested and transported to the Cole County Jail without incident.
Both were charged by the Cole County Prosecutors Office with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.
Beroldo Almazan posted a $25,000 dollar bond and was released.
Gilberto Hurtado has a $50,000 bond and is still in custody.
The vehicle was also seized and criminal seizure will be completed.

regulate it. make them apply for a permit. tax it. looks like we lost out on a tax dollars here.
