Kirk Boyer has been involved in scouting virtually all his life, carrying on the tradition of his father and brothers.
That tradition has continued with Boyer’s own children, with his 20-year-old son, Joshua, continuing as an active Eagle Scout, and his 15-year-old daughter, Michelle, being a former Girl Scout and member of the co-ed Venturing program within the Boy Scouts of America.
February is designated as the scouting anniversary month, honoring the official birthday of the Boy Scouts of America, which is Feb. 8. Boyer said this year is the 102nd year of the scouts and the 100th year of Eagle Scouts, the highest scouting rank.
Boyer himself has been an Eagle Scout for more than 35 years, joining the ranks in 1976.
