Westminster clinches tourney spot

FULTON — The Westminster women clinched their first-ever bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 60-54 victory over Eureka College in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship game Saturday night.

Rachel Backes (Tipton High School) was named Tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring 13 points in the title game. Backes was named to the all-conference first team for the third straight year.
