Lady Jays take No. 1 Rock Bridge to the brink

SEDALIA, Mo. — Napheesa Collier did just about everything she could in a quest for her first district title. Ditto for Kristin Burnett in search of her third straight championship.

Despite shooting 50 percent from the floor, 15 Lady Jay turnovers prevented both girls from reaching those goals, as Rock Bridge defeated Jefferson City 75-67 in the Class 5 District 9 Tournament championship game Friday night at Sedalia Smith-Cotton.

“They’re a very good defensive team, they’re very long, very physical,” Jefferson City coach Shane Meyer said.
