Russellville High School students evacuated

An electrical problem led to an evacuation of students Tuesday morning at Russellville High School.

According to reports from the Russellville/Lohman Fire Protection District, firefighters were called to the school around 11 a.m. School officials said alarms did go off, and students were safely evacuated outside.

Using a thermal imaging camera, firefighters were able to determine the area where the problem occurred.

Heating and electrical specialists were called in and they found an electrical problem in the HVCA unit near the weight room, which caused smoke to come out and trigger the fire alarm.

School officials said students were out of class for about two hours as the building was checked to make sure it was safe to resume classes.
