Downtown churches coordinate Lenten services

Various congregations across town enter into the Lenten season today with their own Ash Wednesday services.

Then, each denomination has its own ways of observing the days leading to Holy Week, through special services and activities.

Seven downtown churches have joined to offer an ecumenical addition at noon each Tuesday, Feb. 28-April 3, at First Christian Church, 327 Capitol Ave.

Each church will host a Tuesday Lenten service, bringing their pastor, choir or whatever is appropriate to their worship style. And, each church will provide a light lunch in First Christian’s fellowship hall at 12:30 p.m., following the unique reflections.
