The Helias Lady Crusaders know they won’t have an easy time defending their Class 4 District 10 basketball title.

The other teams will make sure of that.

“It seems like everybody is playing their best right now,” Helias coach Doug Light said. “It looks like everybody is ready for this tournament.”

Helias (18-7) will open district play at 6 p.m. today against Fulton, which beat Boonville 52-49 in the opening round Monday night at Eldon High School.

Having so little time to prepare for a postseason opponent isn’t ideal, but it comes with being the No. 1 seed.
