Experience is definitely on their side.

The Jefferson City Lady Jays will begin their bid for a third straight Class 5 District 9 Tournament basketball title when they take on the Hickman Kewpies today (7:15 p.m. tip) at Sedalia Smith-Cotton High School.

"We know exactly what it takes," Lady Jays coach Shane Meyer said. "We have a lot of new faces on the team, but there are girls who have been part of those two champions who can help lead the way."

The Lady Jays believe they're ready for the two tough games they will face to win the tournament.
