KC man sentenced in student's death

PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) — A 20-year-old Kansas City man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in a shooting that killed a Park Hill High School student.
The Kansas City star reports (http://bit.ly/AvmoBz) that Stephen L. Ellis was the driver of the vehicle involved in the shooting in July 2010 that killed 17-year-old Spencer Crosthwait. Ellis pleaded guilty in October in Platte County Circuit Court to second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
Crosthwait was sitting in his car at a red light in Parkville when he was shot and killed.
Elllis was sentenced Thursday.
Justin L. Dougan, of Kansas City, was sentenced to life in prison after he pleaded guilty a year ago to second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
