Out-of-state fugitive caught in JC

Members of the Jefferson City Police Department on Tuesday morning apprehended a parole absconder from Michigan who is also believed to be connected with a local burglary that took place last year.

According to police reports, David Alan Harrison, 34, was taken into custody without incident after a residence was surrounded by officers shortly after 8 a.m. in the 800 block of Elm Street.

A resident was contacted in the parking lot and confirmed the suspect was alone inside of an apartment.

According to records from Michigan, Harrison was originally arrested for breaking & entering a building with intent and robbery unarmed.

Harrison was also being sought by detectives regarding the burglary investigation of a local jewelry store late last fall in Jefferson City.

The front glass of Vandelicht Jewelry, 3701 W. Truman Boulevard, was found broken early on the morning of Oct. 29.

An undetermined amount of jewelry was taken.

Charges will be sought for burglary in that case prior to his being transferred to Michigan to face the absconding charges.
