Annual home show opens Friday

The 12th Annual HBA Home Show will kick off Friday at the Firley YMCA.

The show, which is being sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Central Missouri, will feature more than 120 exhibits showcasing innovations for inside and outside the home.

The show will be open from 3-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

Professionals from all fields of construction and remodeling will be on hand for consultations. The show offers those who plan to build, remodel or simply update their decor to see new trends and some of the green products available, organizers of the show say.

A greenhouse, valued at $3,300, will be given away Sunday as a grand prize at the show. The giveaway is being sponsored by Brady's, which will also install the greenhouse, and KRCG-TV.

Two other daily prizes are a gas grill from Cole County Industries and a mosquito killing machine and outdoor fire pit from Midwest Block and Brick.

Lowe's Home Improvement Center is sponsoring bird house workshops for children ages 4-10 along with a parent or guardian, at noon, 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday and at 10 and 11 a.m. Sunday. You must pre-register at Lowe's for the workshop.

The first 500 people to visit the show will receive a reusable grocery tote from Naught-Naught Agency. Week-end passes at half-price are available prior to the show through Thursday for $2.50 at Meeks Lumber, Mid-City Lumber and Scruggs Lumber. Regular week-end passes are available for those wanting to attend multiple seminars or revisit shows for more information. Passes form Friday are $5 and for Saturday for $4.

A shuttle service is available from the Knights of Columbus parking lot to Firley YMCA.
