Snapshot: Jessi Kempker, giving immunization her best shot
Sunday, February 12, 2012
No one likes to get shots, and Jessi Kempker, RN, immunization coordinator for the Cole County Health Department, knows that firsthand.
“When I walk into a room and a child is crying because they know I am there to give them a shot, it can be heartbreaking,” she said. “It is also nice to be the one to give them the shot, calm them down and get a smile as they walk out of the door, waving. And I know I was able to protect them from horrible illness and disease, and maybe even death.”
Kempker, a Lincoln University graduate, said she enjoys her two weekly immunization clinics.
