Jays host district tournament filled with state potential

The state wrestling tournament is still six days away.

But this weekend’s Class 4 District 3 Tournament at Fleming Fieldhouse might be as close to a preview of the state tournament as there will be.

Wrestlers from six of the eight state-ranked teams in Class 4 will be fighting for the opportunity to move on to next week’s state tournament at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Action gets under way at 6 p.m. today.

“Our district is known as the toughest district in the state,” Jefferson City Jays head coach Phil Cagle said.
