St. Louis teen charged in series of bizarre crimes

STANTON, Mo. (AP) - A St. Louis teenager is facing charges for a series of crimes near Meramec Caverns.

Xavier Minden, 18, is accused of armed criminal action, first-degree assault and other crimes. He is jailed on $250,000 cash-only bond and does not yet have an attorney.

The crimes happened Monday. Authorities say shots were fired at a car as the driver arrived home. One bullet narrowly missed one of his two children in the car.

The victim put the children in the house, then he and a neighbor grabbed their own guns and fired at the car of the shooter.

The shooter's car was found near Meramec Caverns. Police say that before he was captured, Minden kicked in a cabin door. A woman ran out, unharmed.
