Your Opinion: Proposal meets community’s need

Dear Editor:

As a native of Jefferson City and a young professional in our community I feel it is my duty to express my support for Transformation.

After graduating from Jefferson City High School in 2003 I couldn’t wait to go to college, move to the big city and get a great job. Little did I know that a short seven years later I would be itching to move back!

Although I was confident that I wanted to start my own family and career in my hometown, I was still a little nervous to move back in regards to what restaurants was I going to eat out at, what would I do on Saturday nights, would I be able to find a good job, who would I hang out with? I was pleasantly surprised when I returned and landed an amazing position with a fantastic family-owned business, made friends with countless other young professionals who were at the same stage in their life as myself and that isn’t even to mention the great new restaurants, bars, event spaces, and community events I discovered!

Boy did I feel lucky, Jefferson City had really begun to make some serious improvements. With that being said, we still have a long road ahead of us. We still need more attractions to incentives others to stay or return to Jefferson City. Transformation is the answer to this need.

I feel so blessed to live such a beautiful life in Jefferson City and I can only pray that others in our generation, and for future generations to come, can experience the beauty of making their lives in Jefferson City, as I have. To make this possible it is vital that we invest in our town to ensure its charm is preserved while increasing the opportunities that make it a desirable location for other young professionals to be attracted here.

We need Transformation and I am officially begging my peers, neighbors, co-workers, friends and families to please support the future of Jefferson City by voting yes on Feb. 7.
