A Jefferson City man was injured Friday night while he was a passenger in a vehicle that ran off a city street and into a creek bed.

Jefferson City police report Evantie Essex, 18, received serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, then transferred to University Hospital in Columbia, where he was admitted in critical condition.

Police report the vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Durango, was traveling southbound in the 1000 block of South Country Club Drive around 8:43 p.m. when it left the right side of the roadway just north of Old Lohman Road, traveled down a small embankment and crossed a creek.
