Your Opinion: Realtor foresees more development

Dear Editor:

One only needs to take a look around Jefferson City to see the current state of affairs. We are home to many empty storefronts, vacant lots ripe for development, and hundreds of homes for sale listed by myself and my fellow Realtors.

This all can change with a simple exercise of our constitutional rights on Feb. 7.

I support the Transformation economic development half-cent sales tax. The projects funded by this tax will revitalize economic development by drawing new businesses and visitors into the city, strengthen the city's retail environment, and increase property values in many areas of town.

I know many potential homeowners and business developers are looking to a successful election day before deciding to make investments within Jefferson City. The impact of this vote will go far beyond the 30 Transformation projects on the road map. The ripple effect will be felt immediately all across this community.

My industry will benefit from these successes but more importantly Jefferson City and our entire region will fill storefronts, have increased development, and welcome new and returning residents with the passage of the half-cent sales tax.

Please join me, and my fellow Realtors, in support of the Transform Jefferson City economic development plan!
