Jays take seventh at wrestling tourney

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Jefferson City Jays took seventh out of 48 teams at the Deep South Bayou Classic, a two-day tournament that ended Saturday.

Jefferson City went 2-2 in the final pool Saturday after going 5-0 on Friday. Jefferson City lost to Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic 34-23 to open action Saturday, beat St. Paul's from New Orleans, La. 41-25, lost to Phoenix (N.Y.) 42-38 and ended the Classic with a 51-20 victory against Clay (Fla.).

Four Jay wrestlers went a perfect 9-0 for the tournament.
