Mexico falls to Louisville Male

Mexico had its 3-point shot working Friday against Louisville (Ky.) Male on Friday. But it wasn’t quite enough.
Mexico hit nine 3-pointers but fell 60-51 on Friday against Louisville Male in a consolation game of the State Farm Holiday Hoops Invitational at Rackers Fieldhouse.
Karen Baker tried her best to keep Mexico in the game. She scored nine of her 13 points in the fourth quarter, including nine straight. Mexico got within 46-44 with just more than five minutes remaining, but Louisville Male pulled away, outscoring Mexico 14-7 in the final five minutes.
Louisville looked like it might run away with the game early as it jumped out to a 14-3 lead after the first quarter.
Brooke Costley led Mexico with 14 points. Tonysha Curry led Louisville Male with 19 points.
Mexico (4-5) will take on Jefferson City at 9 a.m. today in the seventh-place game.
Louisville Male (7-5) plays at 10:30 a.m. against Lee’s Summit West in the fifth-place game. All tournament games today are at Fleming Fieldhouse.
