Update, posted at 2:45 p.m. Friday:
Two men have been charged in connection with the murder of a Holts Summit man, Thursday night, in Jefferson City.
Court documents show Justin Beasley, 20, 609 Mulberry Street, is charged with second-degree murder, attempted first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Calvin Hutson, 35, St. Louis, is charged with second-degree murder, attempted first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
They are accused in being involved with the death of Andre Hudson, 41.
Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements show officers were called to the 200 block of West Schroeder Way around 7:22 p.m. for a gunshot victim. A vehicle was seen leaving the area when officers arrived.
It was stopped a block away and the driver, Beasley, fled on foot before being caught. Hudson was found dead in the back seat of the vehicle.
In interviews with investigators, Beasley said he and Calvin arranged a narcotics deal with Andre. During the arranged transaction, Beasley and Calvin intended to steal Andre’s money without providing him narcotics.
Beasley said they met Andre and conducted the transaction in Beasley’s vehicle. During the transaction, gun shots were exchanged between Andre and Calvin.
Beasley said Calvin fled the area prior to police arriving. Calvin was located suffering from gun shot wounds a short distance from the 200 block of West Schroeder Way.
A firearm and suspected narcotics were located along the path he traveled.
Calvin told authorities he was a passenger in a vehicle that Andre entered to discuss CD’s. He said Andre began shooting. Calvin then said he realized he’d been shot and ran from the vehicle.
Andre’s wife told authorities she was driving a vehicle with Andre as the passenger. Andre directed his wife to go to the 200 block of West Schroeder Way to meet people. She believed Andre was going to conduct some type of narcotic transaction.
She advised Andre to get into the vehicle and a few minutes later multiple shots were fired from inside the vehicle. She later observed a man flee from the front seat of the vehicle and she then drove away from the area.
About a block of away she observed who she recognized to be the other person in the vehicle, which turned out to be Calvin. She said Calvin pointed a firearm at her while she sat in her vehicle. She then called 911 to let them know what happened and then turned onto the next block to see police taking Calvin into custody.
As of Friday afternoon, Beasley was being held without bond in the Cole County Jail. Hutson was still being treated for the gunshot wounds he received at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Hospital officials did not release his condition.

Someone needs to pass the word that we are NOT in a contest with Columbia for the "Crime Title".

Let me guess, when the shooter is revealed he will either be:
A) From St Louis but recently staying here B) Living in St Louis but just visiting C) Living in St Louis but dating someone here D) Living in St. Louis but just selling drugs here
Which one do you think?

MO Case Net supports your theory.

I also would guess that the individuals involved are from St. Louis. Jefferson City needs to shut down the Salvation Army Shelter as it encourages the people from St. Louis to come here. The local churches need to help the residents in the community. We should not encourage the St. Louis population to hop a train and arrive here with their hands open wide for a hand out. We do not need the crime that is bred in St. Louis in Jefferson City. Close the Salvation Army Shelter and they will move else where.

Oh and by the way it is not hust the STL people coming here because in the last three months I have met a lot of people that just moved here from CHI and KC

We also seem to get several transients from Gary, Indiana and Detroit too. Wonder what attracts the inner city gangster wannabees to our little town?

JC Lifer, I'd disagree with you on the "gangster wannabe" part. They are living the "thug life:, carrying guns, selling dope, and shooting each other. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.......then it is a Gangster, not a wannabe! But I'm with you on the rest.

Mo I do care that is a couple of houses from where I started at, and it is very sad! rob

We need to unwelcome these types of people. They should be made to feel very uncomfortable in our town. Police could follow them all day and night and make them miserable.
We need to send a strong message that our town does not tolerate this kind of stuff. Run them out on a rail if need be. We need to take back our town from the thugs and dopers.

Mo, the Judges need to enforce the laws on the book for all, it needs to be equal, it needs to be just, and it needs to have requirements be met before release! Many of the people graduate to these crimes, from a long rap sheet even though they were convicted, it did not cost them! My mother was in the Southside Bank when it was held up a couple of years ago, I am glad she is still here, just a customer standing there! That is one block from this incident, 1/2 block from the young guy at Dunklin and Broadway who was killed. Jefferson City, Cole Co is known for putting the bad guys away on lesser charges, the Big Cities tend to throw them out, or give them a break! I guess we will see these guys rap sheets at somepoint, if Rice is bringing them here, and I feel he was back in the 80s and 90s. that must also stop? Our charities are overloaded now! It is just sad! rob

These are not people coming to jc looking for a handout. Most of the problems on the southside are from different gangs fighting over drug turf. until jcpd admits they have a problem and work to regain control nothing will improve

No real gangs in JC 3blindmice

I'll sure be glad when all the guns are banned. We won't have any of these incidents to deal with anymore. World will be a much nicer place.
Right?? :-)

If the drug had been legal and regulated, the whole ordeal could have been avoided. Plus, we'd get some revenue. Horray!

Mmmm....y'all can blame Larry Rice until the sun sets....I'm sure that will fix the problem.
The fact is that the bad guys go where the business is easy and profitable.
The customers are in JCMO. The locals want these drugs....and are willing to pay high prices to get them.
My question to y'all is....what is the REAL problem? The supply or the demand?
Your little town is sick at the core....and all the local power brokers are focused on is convention centers, and how to consolidate all the kids into 1 easily secured institution....with learning academies...LOL.
Hint.
Your problem starts much earlier than HS. I suspect a frank discussion with a TJMS teacher/administrator would shock most to their core.
But nobody wants to go THERE. Let's just buy more Tahoes for LEO and fill up the new jail! THAT will fix it all!! ;)
Happy New Year. Good luck.
