Eureka holds off Lee's Summit West

Eureka held Lee's Summit West scoreless for the first 6:16 of the second quarter and went on to a 58-43 victory Thursday night in the final first-round game of the State Farm Holiday Hoops Invitational at Rackers Fieldhouse.

The Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Titans 13-0 in that stretch to turn a 15-13 lead after one quarter into a 30-17 bulge at intermission.

The lead got to as big as 14 points in the third quarter before Lee's Summit West closed the period with a 6-0 spurt to trail 40-32 heading into the final period.

That eight-point deficit was as close as the Lady Titans would get in the fourth quarter. The Lady Wildcats led by as many as 17 before settling on the 15-point final margin.

Lindsey McCoy finished with 19 points and six rebounds to pace Eureka (6-2). Kelsey Tepen added 14.

Eureka will face Quincy (lll.) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. today. Taylor Jackson score a game-high 20 points for Lee's Summit West (1-5). Lee's Summit West will face Jefferson City in the loser's bracket semifinals at 4 p.m.
