Stolen Bible recovered; suspect in jail

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis church has its antique Bible back, and a man suspected of stealing the 15-pound, 19th century Bible is in custody.

The Bible was stolen at St. John's Lutheran Church on Friday, just days before Christmas service. It was the fourth burglary in a week at the church.

An antique dealer says he paid $30 for the Bible on Sunday but had suspicions about it. An Internet search turned up a St. Louis Post-Dispatch story about the stolen Bible, and the dealer called police.

The Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/W3pGqb ) reports that authorities had a description of the burglar from surveillance images and soon made an arrest. Formal charges have not been filed.

Authorities believe the suspect may be responsible for six burglaries at the church since September.
