Jobs, unemployment rate both fall in November

JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri's unemployment rate fell in November, but so did the number of people with jobs.

Figures released Tuesday by the state Department of Economic Development show Missouri's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point to 6.7 percent in November. The department said that was its lowest level in 49 months.

But the total number of nonfarm jobs also fell by 6,800, led by declines in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Missouri's total civilian labor force was a little over 3 million people in November when counting both those who had jobs and those who were unemployed but looking for work. That labor force figure was up nearly 9,200 from October.
