Friends living together test Mo. town's housing law

EUREKA, Mo. (AP) - A legal battle is under way over whether friends living together violates a St. Louis County town's housing law.

Eureka resident Alicia Wrob invited her friend Sheri Clark to move into her home after Clark separated from her husband of 28 years. The two single mothers figured they could provide each other some emotional support and share living expenses.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/UMz3LS ) reports that a judge will decide next month if the living arrangement falls under the category of family, as required by law in Eureka.

A lawyer representing the town of 10,000 is expected to argue that the women are violating an ordinance prohibiting two families from occupying a single-family dwelling. The living arrangements came to the city's attention after a neighbor complained.
