New group promotes concept of ethical eating
Monday, December 17, 2012
For many people in Jefferson City, ethical eating has become a way of life.
Shanon Hawk and Stephanie Childress formed a group, the Ethical Eating Group of Jefferson City, in October 2011, to bring more awareness to the issue. The duo heard about research their church’s national headquarters, the Unitarian Universalist Association, had performed. The research was to determine what type of involvement the religion wanted to have in social justice issues, such as ones that fall under ethical eating.
“Ethical eating is actually very broad,” Hawk said. “It deals with not only your food choices, what you decide to put into your body, but also ecosystems, human hunger, social inequity, animal welfare, climate change, things like that.”

If God didn't want us to eat animals, He shouldn't have made 'em outta meat.
