Final judging under way in lighting contest

The first-round winners of Jefferson City's 26th annual Christmas Home Decorating Contest have been announced.

From a field of 60 contestants, first-place winners from each city ward were chosen in each contest category. The contest categories are: Christmas Elegance; City's Best; Religious; Use of Characters; and Use of Lights.

Those first-place winners in each ward will now compete against each other for citywide honors. The final judging began Saturday and ends today; the citywide winners will be listed in the Dec. 23 newspaper.

A "Tour of Lights" map was published in the Tuesday, Dec. 11, edition of the News Tribune to encourage residents to tour the city and see the entrants.

The annual contest is sponsored by News Tribune, the Parks and Recreation Department and Cottonstone Gallery and Frame Shop.

See the first-round winners list in our newspaper or e-Edition for Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012.
