At its most basic level, basketball is simply about putting the ball in the basket.

Calvary Lutheran had trouble doing that for the first 21⁄2 quarters Friday night, and it ended up costing the Lions.

Calvary struggled from the field while spotting the Fulton School at St. Albans a 39-22 lead, and the Lions eventually dropped a 51-49 decision at Trinity Lutheran.

“We ran our offense and got good shots, they just didn’t fall,” Calvary coach Mark Buffington said. “We didn’t play very well in the first half on the defensive end. We were fine on offense, because we ....
