LAS VEGAS (AP) - Freshman Anthony Bennett scored 27 points and No. 20 UNLV won its sixth straight game, 91-44 over La Verne on Thursday night.

Bennett, who went into the game averaging 19.5 points, has led the Runnin' Rebels (8-1) in scoring in eight of their nine games and each of their last seven. The 6-foot-8 forward ranks second in scoring in the Mountain West Conference and 34th nationally, leading all freshmen.

Katin Reinhardt added 14 points, while Savon Goodman chipped in 13 for UNLV, which opened the game on a 15-2 run.

Vince Bauer had 16 points and Jake Veith added 11 for La Verne (1-5), which has lost five straight.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Trae Golden scored 25 points and Tennessee snapped a two-game losing streak and handed Wichita State its first loss of the season.

In its two games leading up to this one, the Volunteers had lost 37-36 to Georgetown and 46-38 at Virginia on Dec. 5.

Jordan had 17 points for Tennessee (5-3).

Carl Hall had 21 points and nine rebounds for Wichita State (9-1), which was seeking to go 10-0 for the first time in school history.

Hall's three-point play gave Wichita State a 59-58 lead and fouled out Tennessee forward Jarnell Stokes with 3:55 remaining, but the Volunteers outscored the Shockers 11-2 the rest of the way.
