Police solve case of puppy dragged behind truck

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police say they know who tied a puppy to a truck before it was dragged along an interstate but it's still not clear if the action was intentional.

Police say the driver of the truck, Victor Washington, did not see the pit bull puppy leashed to the back of his truck before he left for work on Nov. 20.

Washington told police he gave the dog to his ex-wife's daughter. Police believe the wife had her 13-year-old son return the dog. The boy tied the dog to the truck.

The ex-wife was arrested Wednesday but prosecutors are trying to determine if she intended for the dog to be injured.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/TS2prm ) the dog, named Trooper, is recovering but still faces weeks of treatment.
