City receives state grant for greenway extension

An extension of the greenway trail will be paid in part by a state grant that was recently awarded to the Jefferson City Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.

At the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting Tuesday, department director Bill Lockwood said the department has been awarded a $100,000 grant for an extension of the greenway trail from Southwest Boulevard to McKay Park.

The grant was pursued with the help of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, which will enter into a lease agreement with the department for the land to be used.
