Capital improvements sales tax to miss projections
Tuesday, December 11, 2012
Jefferson City officials are laying out a plan for use of funds from the capital improvements sales tax F, but originally projected revenues are now expected to fall short.
At a City Council work session Monday, City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus said though collections have so far exceeded projections, the total projected for the next five years is no longer expected to be reached.
“We think that the budget projection was too high,” Nickolaus said.
He expects collections to miss projections by about $500,000 per year, making the five year projections about $2.5 million off. Also, he said, some projects in sales tax F were slated to receive funds from the previous sales tax that are not available because it came in below projections. That means the preliminary plan for sales tax F funds, which was presented to the council in February, needs to be reworked.

Isn't it wonderful how these folks spend the tax money before they even get their hands on it.
Do you think they run their personal finances in the same way?

You just know they are gonna let the roads crumble and instead proceed on the expansion of the city hall building or buy some more brand new trucks to drive around in. Soon every city employee will have their own vehicle and gas card to fill it up.

Prior to installing another roundabout at Dunklin and Lafayette, please fix Lafayette between Dunklin and McCarty before we have to replace suspensions, go to the chiropractor and get store-bought teeth. Steets in this town are deplorable.

Please fix Dunklin from Jackson to Clark. That is the roughest road for years and has been ignored for way too long.
The city streets are in the worst shape they have ever been in 50 years. Yet city hall has never been bigger and salaries have never been higher. What are we getting for all these tax dollars when they can't take care of what they have?
