Cape Girardeau casino brings in $5.4 million

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — The new Isle Casino Cape Girardeau has brought in more than $5 million in its first full month of operation.

The Southeast Missourian (http://bit.ly/RmVZEU ) reports that the casino in southeast Missouri had gross receipts of $5.4 million in November.

Isle of Capri operates three casinos in Missouri, the others in Caruthersville and Boonville. The Cape Girardeau casino had about as many patrons as the other two combined in November.

What would the taxes on 5.4 million done for the local economy here?

All these above average jobs sure would be nice in this town. Especially when the feds push us over the fiscal cliff and thousands of state employees lose their jobs because they are funded with federal dollars.

This town is so dumb.

A Casino sure would be nice, The GOOD OLD JC BUNCH did it in? The roar on that Bridge on Friday night starts in early March, slows in late October, and now almost all year long there is traffic regular at this point! They drive right on through, if the stopped they would spend, and stay, helping all our little town. Schools, City, and Businesses! The way I see it, if you sell a tract of land, that is 1/2 the size of Capital Regional Hospital, or 1/2 the size of Lincoln University for 8 million dollars, then run off and purchase 120 acres at 3.1million dollars? Now it is easier to see the under lying problem more clearly! Rob

Yeah, but the purchase helped some of our "friends"...

They posted the names of a couple of families that sold the property. Bet they already left town and are enjoying a nice expensive retirement on the beach by now...

Well at least they are buying something with taxpayer money on the LU/HS deal.

Everyone forgets the $16,000/MO lease paid to rent an empty Scheppers warehouse for a year or so.

The failure to secure the casino....the blatant mismanagement of money and resources to ensure crony profiteering....just a couple more items on the long list of why Jefferson City will always be a 3rd tier city.
