NEW YORK (AP) - Elizabeth Williams had 16 points and five blocks to help No. 4 Duke beat St. John's 60-42 on Sunday in the seventh annual Maggie Dixon Classic.
Haley Peters added 11 points for the Blue Devils (8-0), who are off for the next week for exams. The two teams met last season in the NCAA tournament regional semifinals and the Blue Devils routed the Red Storm 74-47.
Nadirah McKenith had 19 points for St. John's (4-3).
Trailing 11-10 early on, Duke scored 15 of the next 17 points to take control. Williams' three-point play made it 17-11 and Alexis Jones' layup capped the burst. St. John's cut its deficit to nine before Duke closed the half with an 8-2 run to go up 36-21.
Rutgers routed Louisiana Tech 73-46 in the first game of the women's doubleheader played in honor of Maggie Dixon, the former Army women's basketball coach who died in April 2006 of arrhythmia, probably caused by an enlarged heart.
NO. 7 KENTUCKY 68, MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE 56
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - DeNesha Stallworth had 16 points, and the Wildcats used a first-half surge to get the win.
The Wildcats (8-1) got off to a slow start, but the Blue Raiders endured an 11-minute stretch in the first half when they had no field goals and scored only two points. Over that time, Kentucky stretched its lead from two points to 16.
Icelyn Elie had 15 points and 13 rebounds for Middle Tennessee State (6-4).
NO. 10 PENN STATE 97, GEORGETOWN 74
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Maggie Lucas scored a career-high 39 points to lead the Lady Lions over the Hoyas.
Lucas was 11 of 21 from the field, including 7 of 13 from 3-point territory. She had 26 in the first half in which Penn State (7-2) led by as many as 34.
Sugar Rodgers scored 22 for Georgetown (7-3), which had won three in a row.
NO. 15 PURDUE 68, TENNESSEE-MARTIN 60
MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) - Sam Ostarello scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half and Taylor Manuel also scored 16 as the Boilermakers rallied for the win.
The Boilermakers (9-1) opened the second half with a 15-0 run, including nine points by Ostarello, to lead 40-29.
Ostarello and Drey Mingo each grabbed 10 rebounds for Purdue, with Mingo also scoring 11 points. KK Houser had eight assists.
Heather Butler scored 28 points and Jasmine Newsome had 21 for Tennessee-Martin (4-7).
NO. 17 KANSAS 97, NEWMAN 64
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Carolyn Davis scored 24 points and the Jayhawks never trailed in a victory over Division II Newman.
Ten Jayhawks scored in the game as Kansas (8-1) built a 51-31 lead at halftime.
Chelsea Gardner had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Jayhawks. Angel Goodrich added 11 points and Monica Engelman scored 10.
Alexandra Cibattoni led all scorers with 27 points for the Jets (4-7).
NO. 20 OHIO STATE 81, LAFAYETTE 41
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Tayler Hill scored 19 points and the Buckeyes never trailed in defeating the Leopards for their 28th consecutive victory at home.
Hill, who has scored in double figures in 42 straight games, hit a 3-pointer 20 seconds into the game and the Buckeyes (6-2) never looked back. They led 38-16 at halftime and by as many as 47 points, 78-31, with 4:11 left.
Amber Stokes added 15 points and Ashley Adams had 10 for Ohio State.
Danielle Flacco scored 10 to lead Lafayette (3-7).
NO. 22 IOWA ST. 60, FAIRFIELD 43
AMES, Iowa (AP) - Hallie Christofferson scored 18 points and the Cyclones defeated the Stags.
Chelsea Poppens, back after missing three games with a concussion, had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Cyclones (6-1). Brynn Williamson scored 12 points, all on 3-pointers, and Nikki Moody had 10 assists and seven rebounds.
Katie Cizynski scored 13 points to lead Fairfield (5-3).
