SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Natalie Achonwa had 23 points with 12 rebounds as No. 5 Notre Dame cruised to a 109-70 win over Utah State on Saturday.
Notre Dame (6-1) dominated Utah State (2-7) in the paint, with Achonwa and other Irish players hitting easy shots in the low post off feeds from fastbreak and half-court sets.
Utah State tried collapsing on the low post, but was often whistled for fouls. Aggies guard Jenna Johnson fouled out just three minutes into the second half. Devyn Christiansen led the Aggies with 21 points.
Notre Dame took a 17-point lead into the break, then quickly put the game away by forcing turnovers with a full-court press. Ariel Braker and Jewell Lloyd each scored 15 for the Irish.
NO. 8 LOUISVILLE 96, VALPARAISO 40
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Shawnta' Dyer had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Antonita Slaughter scored a season-high 13 points, and No. 8 Louisville had five players in double figures and finished with a season high in scoring.
Sara Hammond also had 13 points with eight rebounds. Sherrone Vails and Jude Schimmel each added 12 points as everyone scored for the Cardinals (9-1).
Louisville shot just 45 percent but made just nine turnovers as the defense made the biggest impact, forcing 31 turnovers that led to 38 points.
Tabitha Gerardot and Maegan Callaway each scored nine points for Valparaiso (3-6), which shot just 39 percent and didn't get into double digits until late in the first half.
NO. 9 MARYLAND 90, GEORGE MASON 40
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Alyssa Thomas had 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists to lead No. 9 Maryland and become the first Terrapins player to get a triple double since Marissa Coleman in 2006.
Tianna Hawkins, the ACC's leading scorer, scored 16 of her 27 points in the first half. Malina Howard and Tierney Pfirman each scored 11 points and Alicia DeVaughn had 10 for the Terrapins (6-2), who are the defending ACC champions.
Rahneeka Saunders scored 13 points and Kyana Jacobs had 10 for George Mason (4-4).
Maryland, which leads the nation in rebounding margin, continued to control the paint and outrebounded the Patriots, 50-24. The Terps shot 56 percent (35 of 53) from the field.
NO. 17 UCLA 62, NO. 12 TEXAS 42
HOUSTON (AP) - Alyssia Brewer had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 17 UCLA held No. 12 Texas to 24 percent shooting.
Jasmine Dixon added 10 points for the Bruins (5-1), who have played three ranked teams already this season.
Nneka Enemkpali had 16 points and 12 rebounds for Texas (5-1) - her school-record sixth straight double-double. No other Longhorns player had more than six points as Texas hit just 15 of 63 field goals and committed 29 turnovers.
UCLA led 13-12 midway through the first half when it scored 15 straight points to pull away for good.
The game was played at Reliant Stadium, home to the NFL's Houston Texans, as part of a Texas-UCLA men's and women's doubleheader.
NO. 19 DAYTON 60, MICHIGAN STATE 53
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Cassie Sant had 19 points, five rebounds and four assists as No. 19 Dayton handed Michigan State its first loss this season.
Andrea Hoover had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Ally Malott also scored 12 points for Dayton (10-0).
Becca Mills scored 17 points for the Spartans (8-1). However, Michigan State shot just 19 for 64 (30 percent).
The Flyers missed 13 of their first 18 shots as the Spartans opened up a 22-10 lead with 8:17 left in the first half. But Sant hit a 3-pointer, sparking a 22-7 run over an 11-minute span that gave Dayton a 32-29 lead 3 minutes into the second half. Sant, who had 11 points during the spurt, capped the run with a jumper.
The Flyers, who did not shoot a free throw in the first half, hit 10 of 12 from the line in the second half.
NO. 23 MIAMI 67, DAVIDSON 35
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Morgan Stroman had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead No. 23 Miami.
Stroman was 8 of 11 from the floor and also led the Hurricanes (7-1) with six assists and four steals. The senior tied Kayona Hayes for the team lead with four blocked shots, helping Miami block 10 for the game. Krystal Saunders added 13 points and Hayes 12.
Miami opened on a 10-0 run over the game's first 5 minutes and led 27-18 at halftime. Davidson (3-5) allowed Miami to go on another 10-0 run to open the second half and was outscored 40-17 in the half.
The Wildcats made just 25 percent (16 of 63) from the field in the game against Miami's 47 percent (29 of 62) clip, and hit just 2 of 19 on 3-pointers. The Hurricanes won the rebounding matchup 49-35.
NO. 25 NEBRASKA 78, NO. 24 FLORIDA STATE 77
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Jordan Hooper had a career-best 36 points and 12 rebounds to help No. 25 Nebraska hand No. 24 Florida State its first loss.
Hooper was 6 of 11 from 3-point range in her double-double performance. Emily Cady had 15 points. Lindsey Moore had 14 points and eight assists.
Nebraska (7-3) led 40-36 at halftime in a game with 17 lead changes.
Florida State (7-1) had the ball with 22 seconds left following a pair of free throws by Nebraska point guard Moore. However, the Seminoles missed two free throws and a chance to go up.
Leonor Rodriguez scored 24 points, including 4 of 4 from 3-point range for Florida State. Deluzio came off the bench and scored 19 points, including 3 for 4 on 3s. Chastity Clayton had 14 and. Natasha Howard had seven rebounds.
