Helias, Jefferson City gear up for Missouri Duals

The Helias Crusaders and Jefferson City Jays have at least one goal in common for this weekend in the Missouri Duals.

Get better.

“I just want to see a lot of our guys make progress,” Helias head wrestling coach Travis Reinsch said as the Crusaders prepare to host 13 other teams in the two-day event. “That’s what we’re stressing right now, trying to put ourselves in position to win and learning how to win.”

For the Jays, it’s a chance to gain some valuable experience against quality competition with an eye firmly planted on the postseason.

“It will be a learning weekend for us,” Jays coach Phil Cagle said. “In the past we’ve gone in there and we’ve been able to hang with a lot of people. We’re going to battle, we’re going to battle.

“We work and we want to be successful. We’re working toward five days in February.”

The tournament is split into two divisions — Blue and Gold. The seven division teams will wrestle each other before a final round is held between corresponding finishers in the Blue and Gold.
