One dead after shooting in Callaway County

UPDATE:

Benjamin T. Harris, Auxvasse, was shot and killed early Thursday after an argument started during a pool game at an Auxvasse bar. Callaway County authorities say another man claims he shot Harris in self defense during a confrontation after they left the bar.

Callaway County authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning that left one person dead in Auxvasse.

A Callaway County Sheriff's Department report shows the incident occurred at 12:50 a.m. on South Main Street.

The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses and a suspect were interviewed.

The suspect was released.

The investigation is continuing.

Upon reading this article at another source, I am fully convinced that Callaway County is the Wild West. I believe they let the shooter go and said it was self defense. OK. Strap your guns on folks, if you live there, anything goes.
