Wednesday, December 5, 2012
The victims of the double murder in Morgan County have been identified.
Wayne L. Wells, 82, and Mable I. Wells, 71, were found in their home in the 34000 block of Oak Hill Road near Stover Tuesday morning. A neighbor found Mable Wells lying in a pool of blood and called 911.
Deputies arrived and found Wayne Wells in a separate room, according to a news release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.
Both appeared to have been shot multiple times.
Authorities say the south door had been forced open and the lights were on in the home. They believe the incident took place between 5 and 9 p.m. Monday.
A neighbor told authorities her dogs "made a racket" around 6 p.m., but were not disturbed at any point otherwise.
Autopsies for the Wells are scheduled for today at Capitol Region Hospital in Jefferson City.
Twenty officers from Morgan County, the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Anyone with information is asked to call (573) 378-5481.
