Reward doubles in case of Mo. dragged dog

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The puppy dragged along an interstate highway in St. Louis is making good progress in his recovery. Meanwhile, the reward for the capture of the person responsible for the crime has doubled to $5,000.

The Humane Society of Missouri said Wednesday that the 5-month-old pit bull puppy known as Trooper is eating and drinking normally. Veterinarians are confident they can save his badly injured right front leg, but he still faces up to eight weeks of treatment and rehabilitation.

The puppy was dragged behind a truck on Nov. 21 on Interstate 55. It happened without the driver's knowledge after someone apparently attached the dog's leash to the truck's trailer hitch.
