The Jefferson City Council has authorized the creation of the Kevin Meinhardt Award, which will honor a volunteer each year who serves on a city board or commission.
The award, authorized at the City Council meeting Tuesday, honors Meinhardt, who most recently served as chairman of the Board of Adjustment and died in August. City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus said Meinhardt had served on various boards and commissions in Jefferson City for 20 years.
