Council creates Kevin Meinhardt service award

The Jefferson City Council has authorized the creation of the Kevin Meinhardt Award, which will honor a volunteer each year who serves on a city board or commission.

The award, authorized at the City Council meeting Tuesday, honors Meinhardt, who most recently served as chairman of the Board of Adjustment and died in August. City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus said Meinhardt had served on various boards and commissions in Jefferson City for 20 years.

A fitting tribute to a great person. Kevin was truly one of a kind and will be remembered for contributions to his family, his friends and his community. RIP Kevin and congratulations to all you future winners of this award, you have some truly large shoes to fill.
