MU’s extra edge on the ice

He’s got the best seat in the arena, short of being a player, but he’s never even suited up.
For the last eight hockey seasons, Jonathan Bertz has been announcer and scorekeeper for the Missouri Tigers Ice Hockey Club.
He has brought his keyboard the last seven years to add the traditional organ tunes to the hockey game atmosphere at the Washington Park Ice Arena.
“It’s fun to sit between penalty boxes,” especially when opponents have a “spirited disagreement” on the ice, Bertz said.
Combining his more-than-casual interest in hockey with his experience as a sports announcer for high school games in Salem and other MU athletics, Bertz found a perfect fit.
