Dixon situation settled, MU to host Appalachian State

With senior guard Michael Dixon no longer a member of the Missouri basketball team, the Tigers hope the distractions caused by Dixon's suspension are behind them.

The 16th-ranked Tigers (5-1) play their first game since Dixon decided to transfer, as they tip off at 2 p.m. today at Mizzou Arena against Appalachian State (KOMU-TV).

Dixon announced late Thursday night he was transferring after reports came to light this week he has been accused of rape twice since joining the Tigers.

No charges were filed in either case.

Dixon was a big part of Missouri's 30-5 team last season. He averaged 13.5 points per game off the bench.

But Dixon never played this season. He was suspended prior to the season for what Missouri coach Frank Haith called a "violation of team rules."
