3rd Ward councilman files to keep seat

Jefferson City Third Ward Councilman Bryan Pope refiled for his current seat Friday and, so far, faces no competition.

Filing for municipal elections began Nov. 13, and eight candidates have filed for the open positions. The 2nd Ward is the only race, so far, with incumbent Shawn Schulte facing challenger Blake Markus, a local attorney.

In the 1st Ward, James J. Branch, who works as a salesperson at Riley Chevrolet, has filed to run for a seat currently held by Bob Weber.
